Fer-de-lances

A fer-de-lance is an extremely poisonous snake native to Central America. They're known to have a "two-step bite": it bites you, you take two steps, you die. The smaller/younger the snake is, the more poison each bite carries. The reason fer-de-lances are particularly scary is because, unlike most snakes, they chase their victims.
One of the most hardcore things I have ever seen was a 50 year old white guy playing with one of them. And yes, he knew what it was; he was just that cool.
